Blaine Parker, PsyD, TLP is thrilled to join the compassionate and collaborative team at Mandala House as a Supervised Clinical Associate, where he feels supported in his lifelong development as a psychologist whose work is invigorated by the prospects of growth and learning, and who honors the humanity of everyone.  Central to Dr. Parker’s psychological services are his convictions that our species’ greatest asset is each other when working in harmony, and that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and not alone in their hardships.

When providing psychological services, Dr. Parker strives to utilize his humanistic values, cultural humility, and consideration of power differentials in society to establish trusting relationships, and to provide empathetically driven services to individuals from a wide range of socioeconomic, racial, sexual orientation identity, gender identity, ability, nation of origin, and religious backgrounds.  Additionally, his generalist training in the provision of psychotherapy to adolescents and adults has enables him to flexibly collaborate with clients by honoring their preferences and unique needs.  Such approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, as well as mindfulness-based and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills training.

Although Dr. Parker is responsive to clients’ preferences, he regards emotions as central to our experience of life and to our functioning.  Through this lens, he views behaviors and feelings that might contribute to individuals’ struggles as attempts to satisfy important underlying needs.  Because such needs are often essential to establishing and maintaining fulfilling lives, Dr. Parker believes everyone is entitled to satisfy them, and that everyone is doing the best they can based upon the opportunities and challenges presented to them across their lifespans.  Therefore, he strives to empower individuals by helping them discover their inherent abilities to access deeper knowledge about their needs, as well as to generate the courage, motivation, and capacity to more effectively and harmoniously satisfy them.

Through his compassionate curiosity and integrative approaches to treatments, Dr. Parker has helped individuals address Adjustment, Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Major Depressive, and Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorders, as well as gender identity, sexual identity, and discrimination concerns.  Additionally, Dr. Parker has assisted individuals with Bi-Polar Disorders in enhancing motivation for lifestyle changes and treatment compliance.
