Raquel Barry

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Raquel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s degree from the Silver School of Social Work at New York University(NYU).  She is passionate about offering a safe space where she can work together with her clients facing life’s challenges. Through non-judgmental, empathetic, and compassionate care, she supports clients to feel empowered to promote positive changes in their lives at their own pace. Raquel welcomes clients of all demographics including, but not limited to LGBTQ+ adolescents and young adults. Her clinical areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, relational and attachment issues, and anger.

Raquel understands that mental health is complex and treatment is an ongoing journey of self-exploration and intentionality. Her approach to therapy involves working with each client individually to identify what best fits their needs and desired outcomes. Additionally, she values continuous education and training for herself to ensure best practices for her clients.

She started her studies at the University of Louisville where she completed her Bachelor's of Social Work in 2019. During her time there, she was a research assistant in the Knowledge in Development(KID) Psychology Lab and studied children’s cognitive development. In addition, she interned at an adult day center and implemented interventions for those living with Alzheimer’s dementia.

While working on her Master’s degree in New York, Raquel interned at an agency called Fostering Change for Children. Her work involved recruiting and supporting caseworkers in order to decrease turnover rates and ensure more stable, consistent, and well-trained caseworkers in the foster care system. As she took more clinical-focused courses in this time, her interest and enthusiasm in studying mental health blossomed.

After graduating from NYU in 2020, she moved back to Louisville to work as a psychotherapist in community mental health at Maryhurst Renewal. While there, she was able to provide therapy to various clients and families out in the community, obtain her full independent licensure as a LCSW, complete many clinical trainings, and grow into a more confident and experienced clinician.

Raquel continues to pursue her career as a psychotherapist and is committed to guiding those she works with on a path to personal growth.
